The Security Council held heated closed-door negotiations on a possible statement, but diplomats said a sticking point was that the text did not mention Hamas missile attacks on Israel. Israel said it was these attacks that prompted its major offensive against Gaza.
The thing that stands out the most to me is that "again", the UN like their past resolutions is trying to leave out the fact that this whole problem is all due to the Gazians continuous firing of missiles into Israel. The only reason they want an end to the fighting is because again, they are trying to make Israel the aggressor. It's ok for Israeli children to be in the constant crosshairs of Gazian missiles, but not ok for Israel to protect itself. And they think that to protect itself is to just take out a smuggling tunnel. Well no! Every missile, launcher, Hamas leader is now in Israel's crosshairs and this will not end till Israel is secure, without the threat to its citizens!
One other thing, notice that there has been no gathering of the mindless in the UN over the unhindered killing of innocent children and families in Syria. 36,000 plus and counting. But again, Israel is the hated black sheep.
